Automated Values Ranking Grid
This is the same tool referenced in the Values chapter of Naked Idealism, in the form of a MS Excel file. It allows you to take a list of ten values (or other items, for that matter) and to prioritize each one against the other values in the list, one by one. It then automatically calculates the number of times each value was prioritized above others, allowing you to determine which values rank as most important. It saves time and adds value for you and your clients, as you can enter the data while listening to your client and provide immediate feedback.
To utilize it, you must have MS Excel version 2003 or later installed on your machine. No programming is required and instructions on where to type in information are included right on the sheet (click on image at right to see full-size picture of tool). You should be comfortable with entering basic information into spreadsheet cells. The worksheet is “protected” by default so that data can be entered only in cells that won’t disrupt the integrity of the tool, but simple instructions for “unprotecting” it are included should you wish to edit it.
While I’m unable to offer technical support on this tool, please contact me if you discover any glitches and I’ll post an update as soon as possible. As with any coaching tool, this should be used in conjunction with your own intuition and your client’s perceptions/input.
